 First Day of Spring 2018 {A Chilly Homeschool Hike}

Yesterday I posted the above image on my Instagram feed and, within hours, it became one of my most popular photos. While that’s cool and all, I always really hoped to be recognized for my photography, not my snark.

Well, we can’t have it all, I suppose.

I’m sure it’s no surprise to you that we don’t give our kids Easter baskets (or Easter anything). It certainly doesn’t’ surprise my kids.

We do, however, love to celebrate the first day of spring. Usually with chocolate eggs.

Yum.

We celebrated the first day of spring 2018 with a long, if chilly, hike.

We definitely didn’t skip the chocolate yesterday, but before indulging, Kalina, Apollo and myself went for a hike with our friends. It was, unfortunately, rather chilly, but we made the best of it. We celebrated the first day of spring 2018 with a long, if chilly, hike.

Apollo enjoyed pretending he was a contestant in Ultimate Beastmaster.  We celebrated the first day of spring 2018 with a long, if chilly, hike.

He kept coming up with challenges…and winning them all himself. We celebrated the first day of spring 2018 with a long, if chilly, hike. It’s finals week for Kalina, and she didn’t have class, so she got to join us on our adventure.

Once again it was a fun day filled with unstructured learning, fresh air, and friends.

The only missing ingredient?

Sunshine.
