This is a fun little book about the mishaps that happen when a stork delivers the baby! Told from the perspective of parents talking to their child we hear about the baby’s journey from New York to the North Pole traveling by dog sled and moose…Onto Australia and the Brisbane zoo.
This book is quirky, silly and fun. There is absolutely nothing accurate or realistic in this book so don’t expect to use it to educate your children. If you interested in that I have a post about my favorite books for teaching about sex and reproduction you can read my post here.
Play With Me is a sweet endearing book about friendship and compromise. Pig wants to play and so does Bear, but what happens when “play” looks different to each friend?
Apollo loves pig’s playful antics and I love the illustrations. This book a fun look at friendship, play, and imagination.
I am a huge fan of Mayim Bialik (confession: I’ve loved her since her Blossom days). It’s been fun to see her grow up, get her PhD, and become a mother herself. I was so excited when I saw that she published a book for tween and teen girls. Girling Up is a science-based book (written in a conversational manner) that covers topics like growing up, our changing bodies, and moving onto college and beyond. Bialik’s book is inspiring, funny and easy to read. There is a chapter that covers sex (from a scientific point of view) and also talks about relationships, being ready, and keeping safe. This book covers so much more than “just the facts” like many books do. I think it is a great starting point for talking to girls in the 10-13 range.
What are you reading now? I am always on the lookout for my new favorite book!
