Enoch Turns 12

Yesterday we had a small celebration for Enoch’s birthday. He baked his own cakes…from  scratch!

No birthday would be complete in our house without the family tube of Vegemite! And for all my Australian friends, he actually put some on his cake and ate it.

Chuck and I gave him some Monopoly money with a promise to exchange it for cold hard cash when we take him to the LEGO store (his birthday request).

Being dairy-free isn’t all bad.

Just ask Apollo who got to indulge in dark chocolate instead.

And I got a call from his cardiologist this morning. The meeting went well yesterday, everyone is on board for the surgery and they are planning to go in between the ribs for the repair. I am now just waiting for the scheduling department to call…

Oh no! that would of tasted HORRIBLE LOL. Vegemite really is an acquired taste, i use it in cooking for soups, stews, sauces etc. just like stock/broth. My family use it very sparingly on buttery toast but even then only 4 out of 7 of us eat it. If your aussie mate could “hook” you up with some Tim Tams, ooooh salivating lol, that is an aussie treat that i am sure the dairy eating folk in your family would devour. Happy Birthday Enoch!!!

  2. Happy Birthday Enoch!! I think I would want to spend my birthday at the LEGO store too 🙂
Vegemite is awesome! The best kiwi food is pineapple lumps (pineapple flavored marshmallow covered in chocolate) and crunchie bars (hokey pokey covered in chocolate)

  3. Wow, how is Enoch 12?! He’s grown so much since I started reading this blog!

I’m glad they don’t have to open up Apollo’s chest. That is difficult to recover from(was 18 when I had mine opened for surgery. The ribs will have him feeling right as rain before you know it.

  4. I can’t believe Enoch is 12! I have been reading your blog forever!

Also, I am so glad you finally have some answers as to what is going on with Apollo, and I am so sorry that he needs surgery. I am a medical student and I have access to a lot of medical journals, if there is ever anything you want me to look up for you, please just let me know!

  5. Wow, he looks older than 12. I can see a faint fuzz above his lip 🙂 I love how “thrilled” he looks with the vegemite. I am not familiar with vegemite, I am going to have to check this out. Of course, I don’t know your children but from what I’ve read they seem to be beautiful inside and out!
