Somehow, the topic of Red Robin came up with Judah a few weeks ago…I forget what he was saying, but it was very obvious that he thought a trip to this restaurant would be pretty nifty. Like big time nifty in this teen son's life.
The reality is, with fourteen children, we don't go to restaurants. Ever.
"Of course you can go to Red Robin. I'll take you for your birthday!"
Well, his birthday came and went (one week ago today) and our schedules did not include time for trips to a burger joint. But yesterday, with no Boy Scouts, we made the time.
Judah thoroughly enjoyed his Whisky River Burger (Chuck's favorite), his steak fries and especially the seasoning salt. It was wonderful to have a couple of hours with just this one son. Time to "catch up" on life.
We talked about cars and cameras.
Scouts and West Point.
School and the Beatles.
And a whole lot of nothing.
All in all, he was a wonderful dinner date and I enjoyed every moment.
{The first photo was done with a free faux-instagram action I found here. I just think these will be so fun for scrapbook pages!}

Derek and I love Red Robin! Great choice Judah and happy birthday.
Yummmm!
What an awesome treat for your son! I’m sure he will always remember the time you took him for a birthday lunch by himself.
Red Robin is one of my hubby’s favorite eateries! Glad you enjoyed your date!
Love Red Robin! Not sure if you are aware, but if you sign up for the birthday club on Red Robin’s website, you receive a free burger on your birthday!
