Today is Tucker’s 8th birhday! Last year he was upset because his birthday fell less than two weeks before we headed to Houston, TX to have Apollo evaluated by a surgeon…This meant I had no time to plan the big birthday bashes he is used to. And you know, that’s okay…Sometimes life doesn’t go exactly as planned.
We did make sure this year that Tucker had his fabulous party. He wanted a Despicable Me themed party and I was happy to oblige. Thankfully Pinterest in awash with party ideas and seriously, who wouldn’t want to make these cute little minion cupcakes?
Betty Crocker cake mix and icing and Twinkies make perfect minion bodies… I was thrilled to find thse Wilton Eyeballs! They made minion making a breeze.
We also had Cookie Robots (thanks to Judah, some paper clips, the icing lid and a random plastic hat we found…)
Agnes’ caterpillars (that never turn into butterflies) were as easy as Cheeto Puffs in a jar…
We had food and water in a pet dish…and Enoch was kind enough to make poo poo cookies (no bake cookies).
We filled the Box of Shame with presents…
And to my kids, “party” is synonymous with “costume”…so they put their creativity to the test and came up with these:
Tucker had a few friends from school as well as some homeschool friends. He was thrilled with everything (and everyone) and once our guests left we enjoyed the movie as a family.
Happy 8th birthday, Tucker!

My
My daughter made 3 dozen Despicable Me cupcakes for a bake sale at her preschool ( she teaches 1-2 year olds). She used smartees for the eyes and then a frosting pen to make the eyeballs. They sold out first. She’s had parents contact her and ask her to make them for their kids parties. She and her older brother (24 & 26) had a great time making them.
I’m not surprised they sold out first. What kid wouldn’t want one?
I love the minions. I think I will make them. Today. For no reason.
I’m sure your kids will appreciate that!
The party looks awesome! I haven’t seen Dispocerble Me, so I don’t know all the characters. Kalina looks just like a girl in school uniform in the UK!
So fun!! I really like Despicable Me. I think costumes are great fun as well. Young adult parties in which we dress according to the theme are some wonderful memories for me.
