We spent two nights at Great Wolf Lodge, which gave us plenty of time to enjoy the park without feeling rushed. We had two rooms. One for the boys and one for the girls (and Apollo). Our kids were so awesome. We had zero trouble at bedtime with the little ones. We laid them down, said good night and went to sleep.
One way we were able to afford the trip was to take almost all of our meals. I love that Great Wolf Lodge allows you to take your own food. We cooked ahead (Asian salad, muffins, granola) and took portable food (sandwich fixings, burritos and yogurt). Chuck wanted to buy at least one meal, as a treat for the children. This was our vacation after all. And believe me, with eleven children at home we never go out to eat or order food it.
For lunch the last day we ordered pizza and then when we arrived home in Bellingham we grabbed Chinese takeout. The kids were beyond thrilled and it was wonderful finale to our little vacation.
Someone asked how Avi did on this trip and she did amazingly well. She loved the rides and loved the freedom to scream her head off as we went down the slides (she’s always been a screamer and it just isn’t appropriate in most settings). By Wednesday morning however, she had all she could take and began acting out. But overall, it was a positive experience for her.
Chuck and I are so glad we spent the money on this trip. Memories like this are invaluable to a family.
