Lego Creationary

When I saw the game Creationary at Timberdoodle, I knew it was a must for my Lego-crazed children! Unfortunately the description on the box didn't make it any too clear about how you play the game, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I was pretty sure though that as long as it included Legos and building my children would be happy.

Tucker (5) and Mordecai (8) have both had fun by themselves just picking cards are building what was in the pictures.

The gist of the game is this: you roll the little Lego die, draw a card, then build whatever it pictured on the card in the category you rolled. The other players try to guess what you are building. Basically, it's Pictionary with Legos  (minus the game board).

This game simple, no reading required! It kept the attention of my five year old up to my sixteen year old. I love any kind of game that keeps my children engaged while stretching their brains. Imagine selecting a card, then creating this:

Think of the brain power something like that takes!

Or how about this one?

Enoch brought this to me saying, "Mom, can you guess what this is?".

Hezekiah (6) built this little drum set from one of the cards.

But really what matters is what the kids think, right?

Here's what Hezzy (6) had to say about the game:

It was hard to make part of the Space Needle until Tilly guessed it was the Space Needle. I like building the stuff.

Tilly (12):

It was fun. I liked building the stuff. I didn't like guessing.

Adalia (14):

I thought it was a really fun game. I like how they have three different levels of cards. My favorite part is when it's your turn to build. Its really fun to figure out how you're going to build, say a branch, or something.

Jubilee (8):

My favorite part is building the stuff. One of my favorite things I build was a camera! I also made a sword.

Enoch (10):

One of the things they have for you to build is poop!

Kalina (9):

I like building the stuff but most of it is really, really hard. I made a bulldozer and the Eiffel Tower!

Here's the best part…I was already planning to write about Creationary this morning, and got all of my photos edited for it yesterday afternoon…then I woke up this morning to an email in my inbox about a Cyber Monday sale at Timberdoodle. If you've never visited the site before, be sure to check it out today!

Awesome! Definitely picking this up for my Lego lovers! Looks like it’s good for a wide range of ages too. Thanks for the lead, and as always, great pictures and a great entry!
Also: my 5y/o is “reading” over my shoulder and she says that she loves Kalina’s hat 😉

We’re having a Lego Christmas here and this game is going to be under the tree. We found TONS of sets on clearance in September, so most of the kids are taken care of already!

I have been wanting to get this game for Newell. I didn’t get it because it was not on his list. Now, I need to rethink it!! I WANT TO PLAY!!

We have this. I get my butt kicked routinely by Jenson. There is the Hogwart’s Lego game under our tree this year, hopefully that goes better for me. Have you planned your Lego store trip yet?

I saw that game at Sam’s the other day and I almost bought it for James. I’m thinking about going back to get it. They also have other Lego based games out, and he would like the mummy one. So I’m not sure how I’m going to do it. Maybe the creationary can be for homeschool and the mummy one for a holiday gift.
