Farm Chores are Fun!

Posted on March 22, 2012June 21, 2015 by Renee

Adalia and Tilly went out this morning to learn about farm chores and cow milking, so this summer they can help out while some friends are away. I stayed for a few minutes to take pictures. I’m photo-starved these days 🙂

Sweet little calf. She didn’t seem to like my camera.

This little guy kept smiling at me from his mama’s back…until I would put my camera up to my face that is. I did Derek’s newborn photos last February, so it was fun to see him again.

How cute is this?

Adalia and Tilly listen as they are instructed by 6 &7  year olds on how to feed the cows.

Kyle and Karen make the cutest kids. Seriously!

I took Apollo along as therapy. Now that his heart is fixed, I can take him out a bit. He needs to learn that he doesn’t just go to the doctor’s office or  hospital. There are other places in the world!

Apollo and the pigs. He wasn’t impressed.

In the second last photo, Apollo looks so much older for some reason.

I hope his immune system is back to full strength. A farm is a breeding ground for various germs & diseases that could harm someone with a weakened immune system.

A clean well kept farm should be pretty safe, we had some immune compromised kids visit, we just made sure to clean hands well. Our farm was spread out so well we didnt have a grouping of nasties anywhere. We cleaned and composted often. My kids were sick far less often than our non-farming friend’s children. I know Apollo has had a low immunity of course, but I think it will be ok. It looks like a bright, fresh, well kept farm. I keep thinking about Apollo today, I just feel so terrible for him. For some reason, I feel more sad heaviness in my heart for the anxiety he has now than all of the months he was sick! That sounds terrible, because I felt worried for you guys and bad that he couldnt eat etc, but I empathize with the anxiety. I do ok now, but I have had debilitating anxiety as have many of my family members so my heart simply aches for him. I am praying so hard that a solution is found, so glad you are looking into therapy. I pray he can work through this very quickly and get to just normal living.

As a friend of those photographed, thanks for sharing the pictures. 🙂 They are great people to learn from! (Have you seen their video?)
