This weekend Chuck and I were able to get away together to the 2017 Refresh Adoption Conference. I attended Refresh two years ago with some mom friends. It was a great experience, but I determined that next time I went I would take Chuck along. He is the other half of this parenting equation and I knew he needed the encouragement and education as much as I did. We had a great time. I nearly missed it though.

This sweet baby decided to arrive a week early, and I was photographing her mom’s birth. Thankfully, she came quickly, and I even got home in time to get four hours of sleep before we needed to leave.
We left the house with three kids with fevers (all teens, none too sick). All were fever-free when we returned home Saturday night. Unfortunately, Apollo developed a fever Sunday afternoon. It’s been fluctuating between 101-103 with no meds (I prefer to let the fever do its work, as long as the child isn’t too miserable and the fever isn’t too high). You might recall he had a fever and cough for four days last week…the fever went away (the cough has been persistent) and he finished out his school week, but he’s home sick again. He has missed so much school this year…We also have to watch him carefully to make sure he doesn’t develop pneumonia.
Mordecai has his autism evaluation tomorrow. The good news? I don’t have any more birth clients due, so I don’t have to worry about that. The bad news? Apollo is sick and needs to be watched closely, so Chuck may need to take the day off work and stay home with him.
This has been a rough, rough winter for us. We have had someone with a cough, fever, cold or all three since the first week of December (oh, and the flu for Chuck). Not only is it exhausting, it is making it difficult to keep up on anything…laundry, meals, dishes, photography clients and this blog.
Bear with me…I’ve got some fun stuff coming up, but right now I’ve got a sick boy to cuddle with.
