About Little Earthling Photography

Hello, friends, I am so glad you have found my website! My name is Renee and I have owned my business since 2009 and have been shooting births since 2010. I love shooting lifestyle sessions, kids with special needs, and most of all the miracle of birth. Earlier this year I started partnering with Doulas of Bellingham as their associate photographer.

The Photographer’s Nightmare

Posted on March 11, 2015February 15, 2019 by Renee

I had recently, what can only be described as a photographer’s nightmare. I have a client due in just a couple of weeks and during the period of waiting it is not unusual at all for me to have a few anxiety-based dreams. Being on-call can be stressful. The stress is 90%  enjoyable for me. I…

Using Natural Light to Create Beautiful Images

Posted on March 9, 2015February 15, 2019 by Renee

Sometimes our very favorite photos come from surprising places. Some friends were visiting recently and we got to discussing photography. I saw the kids playing, gathered around our LEGO table and decided to take a few photos. I had my 100 mm macro lens on, so I took a few shots… I took this picture…

Me? A Maternity Photographer?

Posted on February 26, 2015June 8, 2019 by Renee

Even though I have owned my photography business for five years, I used to think I wasn’t a “maternity photographer”. As much as I think the pregnant body is beautiful, I wasn’t into long scarves blowing in the wind over half naked pregnant bellies. First friends started asking for maternity photos and then clients, who wanted…

Lifestyle Family Photography

Posted on February 16, 2015February 3, 2019 by Renee

See these kids? I just love their family. Chuck and I had the pleasure meeting up with this family for the first time last summer (I had met Molly previously). You might remember this family from when Apollo’s g-tube fell out last summer. Molly recently had a new baby and asked if I would come…

Light and Lifestyle Photography

Posted on February 14, 2015June 6, 2019 by Renee

Next to birth photography, my photographic passion lies in lifestyle photography. I love to capture the real moments in life, much more than posed smiling pictures. I love the image below, completely unposed, so much more than if I were to try to get them to sit up straight and smile at the camera. As…

Improving My Food Photography

Posted on February 7, 2015May 1, 2015 by Renee

This post contains an affiliate link.My new favorite photo of Apollo. Can you blame me? So serious. So intent. Almost pensive. As I stared this image, trying to think of what to write, I suddenly remembered a photo of him as a tiny baby…so I searched back on my blog and found this: Apollo is…

Devon and Owen’s New Sister

Posted on January 29, 2015May 15, 2019 by Renee

Most of you regular readers know Devon (Adalia and Tilly’s friend) and Owen. Well they have a new baby sister, Ashlinn! Ashlinn was born late last week and I got to go visit in the hospital to get these newborn photos. First Ashlinn gave me this winning smile… …and then this grimace, which I think we can all…

My friends have the cutest babies. I’m not kidding. Carolynn and I met when I pregnant with Enoch and she was pregnant with her first son, Aaron. I can vouch for the fact that all of her babies are cute. This fall I got he opportunity to take some photos of her and Wyatt together….

Little Earthling Heads Home

Posted on December 5, 2014June 8, 2019 by Renee

Right now I am sitting on a beautifully soft (but not too soft) bed, cozied down under a white comforter will giant pillows supporting my back here in my hotel room. In half an hour, I will be awaiting my shuttle to take me to the airport. By mid-afternoon I’ll be home. The BlogHer Pro…
